I’ll admit it: I often read
yoga-based magazines just as much for the
advertisements as the articles. I find it fascinating, the way
that a discipline has been transformed into numerous commodities

Let’s just say I was mildly surprised when one day a few weeks ago I
walked out to dump my garbage. A pile of magazines was lying there, and right on
top was something that immediately caught my eye: a McDonalds “15
minute workouts: Yoga” DVD.

Toning and chanting are wonderful, but in throat singing, you can actually sing two tones at once.

It shouldn’t surprise us that sex sells
yoga, because sex sells everything else: watches, hair products, cereal bars, vacations
