From Episode 6: "India"

  • 1 cup red lentils
  • 3 ½ cups water
  • 1 small onion sliced thin
  • ½ tsp. turmeric
  • 1 tsp. cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tbs. green chilies minced

Wash the lentils add the salt and place in a pot with the water, bring the water to a boil, then turn down the heat and let the lentils simmer for 30 minutes.

In an additional pan heat the onions in a little bit of oil, add the spices and green chilies.

After the lentils have cooked for about 30 minutes, add the onions and spices, and cook until they are soft.
