Although Donatella Versace tops the Guardian Unlimited's list of celeb "eco sinners," Tom Cruise is in the number two spot, ahead of other offenders such as David Beckham, John Travolta, and Simon Cowell. It's been previously reported that Cruise uses a private jet to fly groceries to his home, but it comes as news that Tom actually owns not one, but three of the emission spewing monstrosities. Presumably, the small fleet of jets is completely necessary to launch a full-scale search for Katie Holmes in the event of an escape attempt.
This week everybody's favorite eco-celeb Leonardo DiCaprio opened up about his painful past, saying that following the success of the blockbuster hit Titanic he was often viewed as a "cute piece of meat." Historians say this is the first instance in recorded time of an environmentalist facing this type of problem.
Ecorazzi reports that although Christie Brinkley did not wish to talk to the press about her divorce while she was leaving court this week, she did take a heroic moment to stop and say, "The environment is the greatest threat to our children," and show off a Stop Global Warming bracelet. Critics of Ms. Brinkley say she is actually only concerned about rising temperatures in her uptown world.
This week Ingrid Newkirk's PETA launched their own State of the Union in a display of naked aggression to protect endangered species and all animals around the world. The video features a young woman stripping to the buff as she boasts of PETA's accomplishments over the last year, including getting major brands such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Ann Taylor, and Kenneth Cole Productions to vow to stop using fur, and also mentions Pamela Anderson's topless store window sit-in for animal rights. The woman in the video promises that in an effort to get more attention in the coming year, "We will get nakeder than ever before." While climate change activists have not yet resorted to this tactic, reliable sources say Al Gore has made alarmingly similar threats in the past.
