To accommodate geriatric parents who want to live independently, more kids are installing Internet-based equipment that monitors mom or dad’s health and normal patterns of movement at home.
I think that is a wonderful idea and tool. Recently, my grandmother was ill and I know that being able to see her and monitor her in her own home would have alleviated a lot of problems for my mother. We use monitors when our children are babies to ensure their safety and the same should hold true for the elderly. I hate to say it, but as we get older, we regress back to certain stages of childhood. If monitoring is done with respect, it seems that it is something that can help a hard situation for both parent and child.
