Hibernation Tactics 101

Inspired by Treehugger’s list of 6 Decadent Winter Warmers, I’ve put together our own ways to stay warm, organic style––now that it’s finally cold enough (for those of you in the North) to have to keep warm.

  1. Beeswax and Soy Candles: As you probably know, petroleum products do not burn clean. Fill your home with hearts (perfect for Valentine's Day) from Eco-Express or a pure soy aromatherapy candle from Way Out Wax.
  2. Java Logs: If you’re blessed enough to have an actual fireplace, try logs made of coffee grounds instead of wood. The company claims they burn hotter than traditional logs while producing 85 percent less carbon monoxide. And no, your house will not have that new Starbucks smell.
  3. Fireside Blanket: This plush throw and blanket, made with organic cotton, is perfect for fending off wintry chills.
  4. Loofah Luxe Set: Whatever your gender, a hot bath is sometimes the only thing to combat that wimpy radiator. Viva Terra offers a unisex-looking loofah set bath products, a body brush, and a natural sponge.
  5. Dagoba Hot Chocolate: In addition to being warm, this organic concoction is hot––thanks to chilies and cinnamon.
  6. Body Heat: Adding a body to your bed is a sure way to heat up.

What’s your favorite natural way to stay warm?
