Aromatherapist and social activist David Crow founded Floracopeia: Aromatic Treasures for Health, Beauty and Abundance three years ago. Its mission is twofold: to bring organic, fair-trade, community-supported principles to the production, distribution, and sale of essential oils and to educate people about their benefits.
LIME chatted with the essential oil evangelist shortly before a "Fragrance and Consciousness" workshop, one of many he conducts.
Danny Seo explains the difference between healthy candles and less-healthy alternatives.
Danny Seo has some great ideas for going green in the bedroom. Get a good night’s sleep with pillows, sheets and blankets from an eco-friendly source. One organic option is hemp; since it’s ultra-durable and long-lasting, it makes a great investment.
I have never taken a bath in my current apartment. Though I've lived here for over a year and though the bathroom was completely renovated (tub included) I have not yet made the time to fill the tub and take a break.
But my time is coming. A recent suggestion from the Atlanta School of Massage has inspired me to give my tub a thorough scrub down in preparation for what I expect to be a blissful hour of soaking.
Aura Soma’s line of mystical beauty products is either filled with gorgeous medicines or the prettiest snake oil around.
Soma is what the Vedics called a sacred plant drink that was also considered a god––they believed that drinking it would imbue them with light and immortality. Though this modern version is unpotable, it does promise to balance you on a subtle, energetic level with color, scent, and essence. When selecting a bottle of their bi-colored “Equilibrium” elixirs, you let your intuition do the work. For example, I chose a mixture of hot pink and turquoise. Turns out it’s called “Breath of Love” and is supposed to mend your heart and receive and give love more easily. I’m not sure the blend of water, herbs, and “gem essence” does much more than smell delicious and vibrantly glow on my nightstand, but in the gray urban jungle, that’s plenty.
