The Green Room: Mike Meyers, Spiritualist

Posted by Joshua W. Jackson on June 1, 2006 - 4:11pm.

Because apparently non-Western medicinal and spiritual practices just aren’t trivialized and mocked enough, Paramount Pictures has given the green light to comedian Mike Meyers on a movie in which he’ll play an off-the-wall Indian spiritualist who goes by the name of "Guru Pitka" and focuses on meditation and chakra alignment. The character was originally introduced in a draft of the script for the second Austin Powers movie, but was dropped somewhere along the way. The good news? Maybe your coworkers will finally stop shouting, "Yeah, Baby! Shagariffic!" The bad news? Brace yourself for a world in which Apu’s accent sounds credible.

The Green Room: Sexy Vegetarians

Posted by Joshua W. Jackson on May 25, 2006 - 4:12pm.

Goveg.com, an offshoot organization of PETA, has announced the results of its "World’s Sexiest Vegetarian" poll. "Celebrities cite many reasons for [vegetarianism], from avoiding the cruelty that is inherent in all meat production to improving their health and energy levels and helping the environment," Go Veg said, and declared Prince (the artist formerly known as "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince") the sexiest male vegetarian and Kristen Bell the sexiest female vegetarian. Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, and Joaquin Phoenix were among the runners up. No word on whether any of them were upset enough by the results to jump camp and compete for the title of "World’s Sexiest Bratwurst-Lover."

Celebs Go Bonkers Over Biodiesel

Celebs Go Bonkers Over BiodieselPosted by alittle on February 27, 2006 - 11:55am.

Leave it to country-music phenom Willie Nelson to add some old-world glamour to the nerdy and newfangled concept of biodiesel. At the 2006 National Biodiesel Conference in San Diego earlier this month, Willie unveiled a biodiesel hot rod – a sleek recreation of a 1941 Willys pickup truck that has been retrofitted to run on renewable fuel. Only 500 of the concept vehicles will be made, and all will most likely go to fellow celebs, given the astronomical sale price: $97,000.
