Tiny Tushes Prefer Vedababy Butt

Vedababy

Okay, here's something I never thought I'd say as a new mom: "My baby's tush smells delicious!" Yes, really. We've recently started using a new diaper cream, VedaBaby Butt, (not the most tempting name, I know, but at least there's no mistaking it for something else), an all-natural, doctor-developed bum lotion, and we are complete converts. In fact, it is now the only diaper balm that my husband will use ("where's the ‘good lotion'?"), which is a testament to its fantasticness.

When I first got the product, I was a little dubious of the smallish jar, but we learned very quickly that a little bit goes a long way, which helps justify the high pricetag. We've been using it several times a day for two months, and the tub is still more than half full. Plus, the jar is really cute and the perfect size and shape to captivate my baby while I change her -no small feat these days, as she's quite the squirmer! She loves the tiny baby Ganesha (VedaBaby's logo) on the top, too...

I was also skeptical, initially, because it's a translucent balm (not a cream), and we'd experienced nothing but problems with petroleum-based products of similar consistencies. I should note that VedaBaby is NOT petroleum-based -the entire product line is made of only all-natural ingredients, which makes us feel very comfortable applying it so often. Though it looks like it would be goopy, it's actually incredibly light and so easy to apply, not even the slightest bit greasy. We were used to using heavy zinc-based creams, so we were happily surprised to learn that this almost invisible stuff is equally effective at keeping our daughter dry and irritation-free (VedaBaby also makes a zinc-based diaper cream, "Butt Plus" but we have not needed to use it, the regular "Butt" does a wonderful job.). It's touted as ‘calming and restorative', and it's true. Our daughter was prone to severe diaper rashes, and since we've started using this stuff, they have become a thing of the past. As a bonus, I put it on the Babe's drool rash, and it cleared right up!

The best part about this stuff, though, is it's wonderful smell. It's actually made up of Rosehip and Calendula, among other things, but to me, it smells like iced green tea, which I love. Weird but true: I must confess that sometimes I just open the jar and smell the stuff. In short, we're not about to go back to our old creams. We've discovered VedaBaby and the "Butt" stops here.

For $40.00 for 3 oz it better go a long way.  Since you will be changing the diaper about 12 times a day if not more.

Well, we started using the stuff when my daughter was already almost 6 months old, so she no longer goes through 12 diapers a day.  Obviously, the more often your baby needs changing, the more product you'll be using!  That said, as I mentioned, you really only need a tiny bit of the stuff --it spreads very thinly (unlike the zinc-based or petroleum-based creams, which work better if they're put on in a thick shmear), and we really only use a fingertip amount for each diaper change.  Initially, we used a big glob of the Vedababy, 'cause that's what we'd always done with the other diaper creams.  However, we found out pretty quickly that when we did that, a lot of it went to waste (or was wiped on the inside of the diaper).  Yes, it's definitely pricey, but so far, it's lasted us longer than the less expensive stuff has, and it probably evens out when you factor in how many jars of the cheaper stuff we used to go through in the same amount of time.
