Julia, intent on sharing her acquired wisdom, writes, “The Legacy of Luna,” and goes on a national book tour. While most of the people she comes into contact are proud to meet her, Julia is surprised when she comes under attack from people on both sides of the struggle over the Redwoods.

This award-winning documentary reveals the extraordinary transformation and spiritual journey of a 23-year-old woman who climbed 200 feet up into a redwood tree and lived there for two years in order to save the thousand-year-old-tree from destruction. Julia lived on a platform the size of a coffee table, survived the ordeal of menacing helicopters, and was nearly blown off the tree and thrown to the forest floor by 90 MPH winds. As a result of her courageous act of civil disobedience, Julia is the youngest person thus far inducted into the Ecology Hall of Fame.

Regarding Julia

Thank you, LIME, for this video. My sons saw Julia speak here in Arkansas a few years ago when they were teens, and were profoundly moved and impressed. It's heartening to know that she still continues her mission today. For some reason we will probably never understand, there will always be people like the one Julia encountered on this video who have their own agendas in direct opposition with our highest and best intentions. Maybe they serve only to strengthen us for the bigger battles ahead. That confrontation must have been very difficult for such a young woman, but she handled it with grace, dignity and strength in her convictions. Well done, Julia. Keep on, with our blessings and our gratitude.
