Sure, it's way rad how some rock stars are going carbon neutral: Coldplay planted some trees to offset production of their album X&Y; Dave Matthews made a megapurchase of offsets to make up for 15 years of hard touring. But a swingy little bluegrass band from Los Angeles called The Ditty Bops is rocking the whole low-impact thing even harder by riding their entire 2006 tour on bicycles.
Yes, bicycles. The Bops' Amanda Barrett and Abby DeWald will be crossing the country this summer to support cycling, clean air, and their new album, Moon Over the Freeway, thanks to a number of groovy sponsors like New Belgium Brewery, Clif Bar and Surly bikes, and they'll be following routes laid out for them by Adventure Cycling.
Be sure to check out the tour blog, where you can find out when and where to ride along with The Ditty Bops, as well as where they've been, what they’ve eaten, and how much roadkill they've seen. If you can't make any of their shows, you should at least try to pick up their slightly naughty biking-babes-in-bikinis calendar.
