Study Questions Eco Benefits of Organic Farming
February 21, 2007 - 12:16am
from The Times
New research examining the environmental impact of food from farm to plate suggests that locally-grown food may not be as environmentally friendly as it’s said to be; in some cases, buying locally-grown organic may be more damaging to the environment.

I have been having this debate in my head for several weeks now.  It seems that this topic is everywhere.  What do I do. Buy local or buy organic or buy local organic products?  I try and make choices based on what the health benefits are to my children.  Organic milk and eggs, not organic meats (cost too much).  Organic coffee (for me) not organic peanut butter (I've tried).  I think the choice is very much individualilzed and people need to take stock in what they can afford to do and what they are willing to live with.  Check out LIMES forum on Mindless Shopping.  Weigh in on how shopping at Whole Foods or other health food stores helps to narrow down the questions we may have.
