A Common Fish Guards Against Terrorism

Bluegills, small fish that inhabit waters throughout the U.S., are being used as living monitors of post-9/11 water quality. Should terrorists taint a water supply system, these little sentries will “cough”—flexing their gills to expel the toxins.
