President Obama announced Monday a new plan to make sure lamps and lighting equipment use less energy, leading to a savings of $4 billion annually throughout a 30-year period -- not to mention the reduction of emissions equal to 166 million cars per year and nixing the need for as many as 14 coal-fired power plants.
