The new focus on hybrid automobiles is definitely helping to stop our oil bleeding, but because of its relatively new growth spurt, we haven't quite reached the level of production needed to make the hybrid vehicle a common sight in traffic. Performance (i.e. speed, acceleration, etc.) has been improved in these cars since their prototypes a a few years earlier. But they are still less reliable and often less well-made than their Gas-only counterparts. The versatility of the current models, as well as the selection you can choose from also leaves something to be desired. But with the gas crisis and the obvious increasing need for these types of vehicles, the sooner someone can find a suitable hybrid for themselves, the better. The focus for the automobile incdustry should be to continue developing these hyrbid models and bring their caliber up to date with the gas cars. And tax deduction is always a plus
