You may be thinking of introducing some new life to your home with a remodel. Maybe the bathroom needs to be updated, or you’d like a center island in the kitchen. Whatever your project, remember to take two key steps before the first swing of a hammer. Eliminate everything you don’t need or use from the space. And, consult with a professional organizer, decorator, or savvy contractor about ways to make the space work better for the items that will remain. In the kitchen, for example, if you want to utilize the space well, plan on some areas having deep cabinets, and then be sure the drawers pull out so you can get to everything. Saving personal physical energy is one of the hallmarks of a Zen organized home.
