Vegetable oil as diesel fuel? I noticed a bus in the paper that was fueled by 100% vegetable oil. I had never heard of that before, but thought it deserved some looking into. Yes, it can be done with a little work. There are some problems you need to overcome with regards to preparing your vehicle, but the more I read about it, the more it seemed like a possible alternative to petroleum. It seems that vegetable oil provides other advantages as well. Its might be better for your engine and might also be less likely to cause a fire or explosion in the case of an accident. It also is supposed to give you equivalent fuel efficiency to petroleum based diesel fuel and is also lower in emmisions. Finally, vegetable oil is indefinitely renewable and it could be way cool to say you filled up at Burger King. It makes me wonder what other alternative methods are out there. I welcome anyone's thoughts on this or other ways to fill up.
