I think you should add fruit and juices to the veggie line. Vitamin C pills don't really help (or. so I been told, that it just leaves your body when it's had it's share for the day.
Exercise, healthy habits, good food, veggies & juices & plenty of water. A doctor told me one time that NOTHING can take the place of water, and last, but not least..........PRAYING to the God that created us!
I have to tell you 1 MOM story...I took care of my mother for 8 1/2 years before she died. She was the funniest/sharpest/quickest wit I've ever known....I was hugging her one time, and made the remark that, "Mom, you are so short, I would have to bend over to bite your nose".....immediately she said "Yes, and YOU would have to get up to bite it AGAIN." She was in her late 80's (died at almost 90). I never met anyone that could out wit her.. She was SPECIAL.. Thank you, Carrie Burgoyne, (Dominica, West Indies) Come on down!! emain/ zadine123@aol.com
I just got handed an Airborne tablet since everyone around me is getting sick. I'm skeptical after all the bad press for echinacea. But I suppose it can't hurt!
I chose to move to the bahamas because I haven't had a cold (knock on wood) for 4 + years now. I'm using my sick days for vactation! It's allergy season that does me in.
Definitely getting alot of rest, exercise and eat plenty of vegetable, fruit and lots of chicken soup! Chicken soup is always the best for the flu! Funny thing no one knows why! Maybe it's mentally that once you have chicken soup, you feel better.
Consider this a "commercial" if you want to, but I'm simply answering the question by telling you what I myself do. Natural Supplements can help...I especially like a product invented by Dr. Yasuhiko Kojima, who discovered interferon and its crucial role in building the body's immune response in 1954, and then dedicated 40 years to finding a way to boost interferon production NATURALLY. His patented botanical blend - which I use regularly - can be found at http://tinyurl.com/luvzr , along with some other immunity supplements my wife uses. You may or may not find it helpful, but I wanted to pass the information along for what it's worth.
If anyone out there has children, I can tell you this. . . they are the carriers of colds, flu. . . you name it! We can all be healthy until the school year comes upon us and all the sick kids are sent to school by their parents. I have taught all 3 of my daughters to stay as far away from the hackers as possible and to use the sanitary wipes and kleenex I provide them. It's amazing to me, these days, how many parents have not taught their children proper 'cold etiquette', especially in the higher grades. I have a set of 19 year old twins and they have commented on how poorly kids were in school when they were younger. My 11 year old is well aware of the 'flying germs' and talks about how the other kids will cough and 'spew' all of their germs without a second thought.
Since I have Grave's Disease which causes the immune system to be highly susceptible to contagions; coupled with the fact that I have year-round allergies, I have to be very careful to be mindful when I am around anyone who is sick. Needless to say, I take pretty good care of my health and of those of my family members. Yet, it can't be helped when others choose to 'share' their bacteria with the rest of the world!
Hello,
My name is Soleil Beckedorff and I am a true believer in natural health. I have been raised organic. Not only the food I eat but my mother refused to let Dr.'s give me shots in order to avoid sicknesses but rather left it up to my body to build the defenses and memory cells against illness. I rarely get sick but when i do i load up on Echinacea/Goldenseal by ZAND and lots of vitamin C.
In response to someone's comment above, vitamin C can be absorbed up to 1000mg by your body every few hours, after that (as someone else posted above) the excess does simply rinse through your system, but hey why not be sure you have maximum amounts in order to support the immune system. It is also great for skin by supporting collagen production. In fact I am selling some all natural skin care product, and there is a line called NutriMin C (which is what i use, funny how things all tie in) which actually contains vitamin C and promotes glowing, healthy skin. The supplement It is also a cancer fighting supplement because of its antioxidant properties. These are all things that i learned in biology classes and are as true as the grass is green. Anyway, vitamin C was not the point of my entry. The point of my entry was to encourage people to explore a much needed offering of health, Fasting. I recently completed a 7 day fasting program that i constructed myself. The first two days were devoted to consuming strictly raw foods (vegetables, fruits, smoothies, nuts) followed by a four day fresh juice and water fast (beet, celery, carrot, apple, pear, orange, grapefruit, wheat grass:all delicious and satisfying). This was a process i took on in order to eliminate the toxins that have built up in my body over the past 21 years. Everyday we breath in pollution, consume heavy metals (mercury in a lot of our seafood, which i am working on a campaign right now to get chlorine plants in the U.S. to switch to non-mercury emitting technology like all of Japan and Europe has already done, another story though), and eat foods that are toxic to our bodies (hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrups, hormones in all meat unless it is organic, pesticides which enter us through fruits and vegetables). So fasting is giving our body a chance to use its energy on another process (eliminating toxins) in the body other than digestion. The average persons colon has 7-10 pounds of built up, stuck on toxins that are not leaving the body any time soon unless you take a step by fasting and cleansing (colon cleansing programs, such as Nr. Natura's fiber cleanse deemed COLONIX). So if you are looking for a way to become energetic, vibrant, hormonally balanced, lose weight, clear your skin, and many other benefits look into a cleansing fast.
~Sincerely,
SOLEIL BECKEDORFF

Here in the north east we are entering flu season. Make sure you get your shot, no matter what your age . For colds stay out of drafts, take vit. C. If your working in a office stay away from the person who coughs with out his hand over his mouth. I have to say eat right, with a well balanced diet helps me through this time of year.
I get a cold every fall and it lasts until winter! Any one agree with me that having a cold totally stinks??? Well to avoid getting a cold I Get my beauty sleep, stay active, eat healthy, and chow down on vitamin C. Stay Warm!
I only get sick like once every year or so, so I'm just gonna try and plan on exposing myself to sick people, mabye walk through a doctors office, and try and time when I will get it.
I have found that the best way to try to stay healthy is to wash your hands frequently, get rest, eat healthy foods, try not to get too stressed out and drink lots of hot tea!
