All the News That's Fit to Download

The Internet has gone a long way towards cutting down on the planet's paper consumption. One increasingly popular way to use the web to cut down on paper waste is to get your news online. Most online newspapers and news networks allow registered users to specify their favorite subjects and to receive customized links to those articles in their email boxes each day.

If you see an article you'd like to keep for future reference, instead of printing it out, email a copy of the story to yourself. This allows you to create a paper-free archive of interesting articles with the text that you can easily search or forward to friends. This definitely beats photocopying the same piece again and again.

If you still like to get your local paper and read it while enjoying your morning coffee, then use the online service to read newspapers from more distant locales. And don't forget to recycle that daily paper.
