Recycling’s not exactly a new eco-habit — but eco-artists and entrepreneurs are still finding new ways to recycle and upcycle unexpected things. A few cool examples:
Further Soap [1]. Recycled veggie oil’s apparently a gift that just keeps on giving! A Los Angeles couple uses the stuff to make biofuel for their car — then uses the biproducts to create Further Soap and Further Candle — sweet smelling products that’ll keep veggie car drivers clean and happy.
Beca Designs [2]. Love your vodka cocktails enough to match your outfits to them? Beca Designs jewelry is made from old liquor bottles — from Belvedere to Kahlua — so now you can wear your drinking habit on your body.
Isthisyourluggage.com [3]. An art director’s turning lost and abandoned airport luggage into a curious voyeuristic art of sorts. Unclaimed luggage is bought at an auction, photographed, then displayed on a website for all to browse and wonder about. The goal: To reunite people with some of the goods, thus allowing continued reuse.
Keep clean, look good, and always reuse before recycling!
