Spring Has Sprung: Take Your Workout to a Higher Level

Spring has officially sprung. Time to take your workout to a higher level — literally. No need to change your physical workout, just change your scenery to keep boredom at bay.

Across the United States plenty of high-rise full service buildings have been popping up along urban skylines, and many of these buildings offer different amenities such as fitness centers. And now, a new high rise building in Los Angeles is taking their spin classes from inside to outside--on the building's rooftop [1]. The inspiring view helps you push it to the max.

Another west coast locale offering rooftop workouts is Sky Sport and Spa in Beverly Hills. Owner and fitness expert Jackie Warner is the star of Bravo’s reality television show, Work Out [2]. Additionally in California, Adam Lake Fitness [3] offers views of the San Diego skyline while you train using a variety of instruments such as Russian Kettlebells.

On the east coast, in New York City (Long Island City, Queens to be exact), you’ll find the new rooftop racquet club CityView [4], which offers tennis courts, squash courts, even a hardball court. The 80,000 square-foot facility also offers fitness machines, a spa, and a lounge. If Queens isn't the borough you represent, check out Brooklyn Bridge Bootcamp [5], where you can lunge, run and squat your way across the bridge while taking in the magnificent views of New York City skyline. The distraction from the scenery will take your mind off the burn.

The best times to workout outside are early in the morning or later in the afternoon/dusk. Don't forget to bring a water bottle, and wear seasonally appropriate clothing (layering is always a good idea around this time of year, just in case there is a change in weather).

And lastly, don't forget your sunscreen! Happy workout!
