In the next 24 hours, deforestation will release as much CO2 into the atmosphere as 8 million people flying from London to New York. That’s about the equivalent of clearing 100 acres of forest land every minute to create farmland for crops.

 

 

WE CAN STOP IT!

 

 

The idea is simple, basically what I'm trying to do is raise enough money to buy a few acres of rainforest land that would otherwise be destroyed by farmers.

The simple idea behind is that rainforests are worth much more to the human race left standing, helping to cool the planet, than they are cut down for timber or burnt to clear land for cattle ranching.

Every time a tree is cut down in the Rainforest carbon dioxide is realeased into the atmosphere, contributing to global warming [0].

The Amazon rainforest alone provides a fifth of the world’s fresh water as well as a fifth of the world’s oxygen.

Rainforests are home to two-thirds of all living animal and plant species on the planet, with hundreds of millions of species still undiscovered.

The forests are known as the "world’s pharmacy" because of their wealth of natural medicines and destroying them can destroy the chances of new breakthroughs in treatment.

 

Each acre of land only costs 144$ and locks up 260 tons of carbon dioxide and protects 800 unique forest species.

 

Think of the possibilities, if everyone here contributed JUST ONE DOLLAR or even the change in their car we could easily buy an entire acre of land.

So with that being said, lets everyone try and donate AT LEAST a dollar, ask your parents for donations, or donate yourself!

 

EVERY SINGLE PENNY WILL GO DIRECTLY TOWARDS BUYING ACRES OF LAND.

Ex.: If we raised 3,000 dollars we would by 20 1/2 acres of land and the other 11$ would be donated to the cause.

Next to the busy Rio Madeira (or Wood River) lies an arc of deforestation that is destroying some of the world's richest stores of forest carbon. By investing in sustainable local production, we are helping to price destruction out of the market.

 

The areas available are Ataninga, Madeira, and Matauara.

 

 

Rainforest destruction is a massive contributor to climate change. It accounts for as many CO2 emissions as the USA - a staggering six billion tons each year.

Lets do our part, so our grandchildren can breath fresh air, see blue skies, and play in green grass.
