My electric bill for the month of May 2007 was $38.41. I was shocked when I got it. I thought they had misread the meter or some billing error. I call my provider and they said that was correct. Then I started to take into account the changes I have made to go GREEN! I had to replace my refrigerator and my AC units. I bought Energy Star rated appliances'. I have also switched to compact fluoresces bulbs and changed out my ceiling fixtures for fluoresces ones. I added a large ceiling fan to my common room. I have put solar curtains on all my windows. The main change is I flip the switch and cut it off if I am not using it. Closing rooms off help with my cooling and I use my ceiling fans to move the air. I hang my clothes out to dry and I use a laundromat.  Now, I must say I have spent some money to get a $38.41 light bill, but in the long term I will get that investment back. I want to keep as much of my money as I can. I have learned how to save money and live GREEN at the same time. PS: I know I will not always have this low of a bill, but it worth trying for each month.
