Friends of the Urban Forest is a non-profit committed to the belief that trees are a critical element of a livable urban environment. Their mission is to promote a larger, healthier urban forest as part of the urban ecosystem, through community planting, maintenance, education and advocacy.

Since 1981, Friends of the Urban Forest has provided financial, technical, and practical assistance to San Franciscans for: Tree Planting, Tree Care, and Community Involvement and Youth Education. In all its programs, Friends of the Urban Forest seeks to improve the City’s environment, build community and connect San Franciscans with the natural world and with each other.
