In the future health care will focus on self-healing. The body will be given the chance to heal itself, supported by biofeedback, conscious breathing, and other non-invasive techniques. At least this is how the editors at Ode Magazine see it.

Natural Health is number four on Ode's 10 Emerging Trends that Could Reshape Your World (over the next 10 years). In the future Ode sees a dramatic change in the treatment of disease. No longer will we battle illness as if it is an unwelcome intruder that must be destroyed with the most aggressive means possible. Disease will be nothing more than a sign of imbalance and natural healing will be encouraged through diet, simple lifestyle changes, prayer, and the support of family and friends.

Ode's idealistic (unrealistic?) vision also has medicine working more for the people and less for investors. Drug companies will no longer aggressively market their products to maintain their bottom line. The interests of the patient will come before anything else.

If it follows this path, the future of health care will take a decidedly eastern direction wherein each component of a human being — mind, body, and soul — will be taken into consideration when treating illness of any kind.

We can only hope . . .
