An extract from the leaves of the crataegus, or hawthorn tree, extended the lives of some patients with congestive heart failure by an average of four months while they were taking other medication, a study found.

I wonder if it is the extract or mind over matter.  The patients lived am average of 4 months longer.  Was it  the extract or the desire to live?
