Worms Reveal Longevity Gene Clue

Scientists have identified a gene in nematode worms that may explain how eating less boosts longevity. The find could lead to drugs that mimic the consequences of calorie restriction but negate the need for severe fasting regimes.

Fascinating article. Wouldn't it make more sense for all of us in the wealthy countries to eat less? We could dedicate the resources for research into putative wonder drugs into something that would benefit the hungry in the world. Low-tech instead of hi-tech, in other words.
