Here's a question: What kind of snack can you eat at the office, specifically, at your desk without making a mess, staining documents, or generally grossing out your co-workers? Oh, and it has to be healthy. I mean hella healthy.

pwer bars and trail mix are the answer

Any type of power bar would work.  Luna bars, cliff bars, there are so many of them it's hard to count.  Walk into any health food store or any food store for that matter and they will have cases for you to choose from.

Another choice would  be granola or trail mix.  You can make it yourself and combine your favorite nuts, dried fruits and granola.  It's really good, except if your watching calories, be careful.  It adds up.  Good luck.

Ah nuts
by SirTravers on April 6, 2007 - 8:29pm

I drive a truck all day so I need something to keep the truck from getting icky. Nuts and seeds seem to be the best. Just throw em in a snack back so when I am hungry just unzip a little and tip the bag. No mess and good tasting plus good for me.

Observe the world as though you were a child and enjoy the wonder of it all.

raw is better

Add a little dried fruit and yoy have a well balanced snack.  Just try and make sure they are not roasted and salted.  Raw nuts are best and unsalted even better.

Watch servings

Nuts contain hella fat...a serving is usually 1-1.5 oz.

In a sedentary environment like an office, high calorie power bars or granolas may not be the way to go.

Matchstick some celery, carrot, and zuchinni before you leave in the morning and throw it in a sandwhich baggie.  It's crunchy, tasty, and healthy.  Best of all, it's totally mess free.

Bananas are good for quick energy, and not too messy (they have their own wrapper!).  Dried fruits are good, but of course anything you can eat raw or unprocessed is going to be better for you.

If you want something a little sweet, try baking your own sweet potato chips and sprinkling them with just a bit of cinnamon and sugar.  Or there is always dark chocolate...it's hitting up the headlines as the wonderfood these days in fighting hypertension and packing antioxidents...just keep the servings down.  Get a small bar and treat yourself to a small bit of it every few hours.

Fiber One Cereal

My Husband takes dry Fiber One cereal to work every day for his pick me up snack.  It is a great way to get your fiber in for the day.

Nuts & Berries
by laurenann053 on February 19, 2008 - 1:50pm

My favorite office snack is almonds, walnuts and dried cranberries!  I keep a container of them at my desk and tend to go for them halfway through breakfast/lunch and halfway through lunch/dinner.  A handful will fill you up and also feed any sweet cravings you may have (because of the cranberries).  Its also a great way to get some healthy fat, protien and calcium into your day!  Experiment with all different types of nuts and dried fruits to see what you enjoy and then make your own little snack.

I love green grapes, they're clean, don't make a crunching sound, and good for you, in fact I'm eating them right now LOL
