Global Warming Report-Is It Too Late?
Posted by Vicki_R on February 4, 2007 - 10:17am.
The report out of Paris last Friday by leading climate scientists and government officials painted a very grim picture for the future.  It stated that global warming is so severe that it will "continue for centuries" leading to a far different planet in 100 years". It also went on to say that global warming is "very likely" caused by man, meaning more than 90% certain".  The report blamed man-made emissions of greenhouse gases for fewer cold days, hotter nights, killer hear waves and devastating droughts. Reactions to the report have varied.  Some calling for immediate action others being more optimistic and saying it is not too late if we decide to do something NOW.  Do you think the report is trying to scare us into action or are you optimistic about the future of our planet.  What can we do to help the planet and  Is it too late?

It's never too late

Although with all the news and the added coverage of climate change, it's hard to fee like it's not.

We all just need to do our part to make a difference.

Offset your carbon, take a walk instead of driving, reduce your household waste...

Anything you can do no matter how trivial...helps make a change

moving on

Do you think that the global warming issue will have staying power or will people get tired of hearing about it and move onto something new?  I just hope that the topic continues to generate positive conversation and action.  We all have to realize that this is serious stuff and we must continue to keep on doing our part, even the small things like you said.

Its never too late.

I agree with Chris that it is never too late, but the situation has truly reached critical mass. I am an optomist though and I believe that humanity will be able to come up with some powerful positive solutions. Most people only use about 5% of their brain's potential and with a little stretch, we can tackle this. It is important for each person to educate themselves on what they can do each day to conserve and reduce green house emissions.

mother of invention

Necessity is the mother of invention, isn't that what they say!  I believe too that it is not too late if we all do our part.  I just think that the problem may be bigger than just you and me.  Governments are going to have to become involved and pass bills that large corporations must respect.

I don't think

The government is going to do anything about it, unless we as a worldwide community come together for this cause, and let our governments know our concern.
