Hang Loose
Posted by Vicki_R on June 10, 2007 - 1:01pm.

Do you know that each year the number of wire hangers that end up in U.S. landfills equals the steel in about 60,000 cars?  You can ask your dry cleaner to order free EcoHangers (800-568-7768) made from recycled, biodegradable paperboard.  They require less energy to produce, so there’s one less thing to get hung up on. Sharing tips like these is a great way to make a difference. Lets post any tips we may have and spread the word.

Source please . . .

besides the CEO of EcoHangers.  I'm currently looking into opening an enviro-friendly online store and if Mr. Bob Kantor can source himself in order to sell his hangers, I'm thinking I can do the same thing.

I'm confused.  Are you the CEO of EcoHangers?  I didn't quite understand.   An online store would be great!

I think the post is asking for the source of your landfill numbers.

If you absolutely feel it's necessary to chemically clean your garments ....  yuk  ... your cleaner will accept any wire hangers that you return to the store.  Being particularly fussy and refusing to buy anything that requires dry cleaning in the first place is also another option.

wired

I, too, try to avoid purchasing garments that must be cleansed through dry cleaning. Although I've met some people that send almost everything to dry clean. I think that's ridiculously expensive.

I also researched the whole wire hangers deal and I was surprised to find out that approximately 3.5 billion wire hangers end up in US landfills every year, wow.

migraines
by Vicki_R on June 12, 2007 - 4:00pm
My husband wears suits and therefore wears dress shirts.  We use the drycleaners a lot and I'm ashamed to say that I have no desire to iron his shirts each week.  So I guess that I will inquire about alternative methods to use.  They also say, that the chemicals from drycleaning may contribute to migraine headaches.

myth?

I've actually heard of that, I used to work in a Dry Cleaner business and some of the people in the back mentioned that, I always wondered if it was true. :S

food for thought

I wonder if they make shirts?  Something to consider next time we're buying more shirts.  My husband gets migraines and we could not figure out why-maybe this is the answer.
