I’ve been contemplating what to get all the mommies out there that are dear to my heart. As Annisalimey mentioned it’s a tense time, especially when you to try and make your parties and dinners as green as you possibly can, luckily I won’t worry so much about organizing or hosting any parties this year, but I’m sure it will be a task for those that do. What I’ve been concerned about lately is what the perfect gift will be. So a few mornings ago, as I was working on my breakfast I jotted a couple of lists of what I can possibly give to honor the motherhood of the women in my life and it suddenly dawned on me that all these years I’ve been celebrating to almost everyone except for one of the most universal and giving Mothers there are; Mother Earth, Mother Nature. So I shamefully added another important figure to my list.
Luckily I found a site/organization that offers a rather interesting proposition. For 25 dollars, or so, this organization plants a tree in honor of a loved one for Mother’s Day and then sends a customized greeting card to the address of your choice, in such scenario not only are you honoring your biological mother, your wife, or friend but you are doing a productive deed. I don’t know if you folks out there have tried this, but I’m giving it a whirl. I am, however, still in the process of finding other treats to honor my loved ones, but I will be sure to include this in my bag of presents. Which makes me wonder what are you doing for Mother’s Day? And how do you intend to keep it green? Any tips are appreciated as well as gift ideas and such. My mother's coming in from out out town for Mother's Day and this year we have decided to do some gardening together. We usually shop when shes in town, it's our way of bonding, but this trip is going to be a different shopping spree. One where we buy flowers and bushes for my newly carved out beds.
She used to be very good at it, but it's been awhile. I think it should be fun and very green.
My little ones recently asked me straight out what kind of trees I would like to plant in our yard for Mother's Day. That question in itself was the best Mother's Day gift they could have ever given me and they didn't even realize it's complete importance.
~ Greener today than I was yesterday!
I love the idea of planting a tree for a loved one.
Unfortunately my mother's day wasn't as green as I expected. I celebrated at my grandmother's and she's not as environmentally friendly as she should. Plus organic products are, while not completely disregarded, just not purchased at my grandmas. Although she does have a lemon tree... if that counts for anything.
I will, however, try to inspire my family to become more conscious about mother earth, after all she does care and provide for us, tremendously.
My new mission is to try and make my holidays a little greener, at the very least.
