Hello everybody, I am giving you all an update on my 30 Day No Meat challenge. Today is day 7 of my challenge. I made it through the first week! I am so happy and proud of myself and honestly it was not that hard at all. It was under all of my own self control, I had many offers to eat meat. My roommates had cooked BBQ Jack Daniel’s chicken it smelled and looked so good! I sat there watching them eat as I happily munched on my Wheat Thins. It has been a long week, but I know I have even a longer one ahead of me! I have 21 more days until I will able to consider eating meat again; we will see how the week goes!

I'm really glad you are attempting the no-meat challenge. I have a suggestion for you -- subscribe to the Vegetarian Food for Thought podcast on iTunes and start listening! This is a really great way to feel empowered about giving up meat and (maybe someday for you) dairy and eggs. Colleen Patrick-Goudreau is incredible and I suggest going through the older episodes to look at titles that appeal to you and then listen. I usually listen to them during my commute to work. While I understand you are still attracted to animal products, when I even just look at animal flesh, I feel disgusted.
Also, another suggestion -- I don't know if you live in an area that is conducive to this, but I suggest going to an organic market and a farmer's market. Currently I'm in the D.C. area and go to a great organic grocery store that has anything a joyful vegan could ever want; it's fantastic. So do some fun research. Wheat Thins (if I remember correctly) have high fructose corn syrup in them, so even though you have given up meat you are still not consuming the best products out there for you.
Good luck and remember: support for this change is out there!
Thank you all for all the support. The one thing that you all kind of mentioned is that I should go to a health food, or organic retail store, and I don’t know of any around here in my area. The first time I went shopping to start my vegetarian menu, for the first week, I went to Costco and I found very few items there that were vegetarian or even organic. I guess I will have to search around for one. I know for a fact that this town that I live in the “society” does not really in that whole health food kick. We have meat packing plant, tons of factories, and also a lot of farm land. I guess I will just have to search for what I need and want. I hope I will be able to keep this up! I will keep you all updated!

I don't know if you know this, but LIME has a section called LOCAL. It helps you find places in your community where to find what you are looking for. Check the link out and see if it may be of some help to you. If your communtiy isn't listed, maybe one close to where you live is there.
Thanks for the tip to look on the lime local, but there are absolutely NO places in my area that carry health foods. I should have stayed in Colorado! There were tons of health food places over there! I chose the worst time to go Vegetarian I guess…
