At look back at my 2007 New Year's resolution
Posted by slisell612 on December 18, 2007 - 10:24am.

On January 1st, 2007, I set in motion my resolution to truly live a greener life.  This community has played an major part in that effort.  Between Josh Dorfman's show and book, the links on this site and the forums, I have been able to pick something to change and work through it.  I have a long way to go, but I feel I have made a difference this year.

I can proudly say, that I am completely green in my household cleaners and laundry products...No 'tallow' dryer sheets for me!  I have upped my recycling and reduced waste in general.  I am about 75% there with beauty products.  I support wind power and have switched out all of my light bulbs and am seeing the savings!  I am making better choices with the foods I buy and I find I am cooking more often than bringing in prepared foods or eating out.

I even tried to find the most eco-friendly kitty litter and shared that here.   Yes, I am using a brand that is not as eco-friendly as others, but the cats are happy.

I have discovered that paraben is very difficult to get rid of, even the green/organic companies have this chemical in some of their products.  I just bought and will be returning Alba eye cream, since I missed the ingredient while I was in the store.

I appeared on local TV during the NBC Going Green week to talk about my 'easy' choices for going green.

For anyone just starting out, it really is easy, if you take it slow...pick a few things at a time to change and then move on.

 Here's to a healthy, happy, green 2008!
