Top green cities?
Posted by jamble on July 12, 2007 - 5:02am.

Green cities are a subject that really inspire me, so much so that I recently set up a green backpacker travel website, www.jamblemag.co.uk and an important section of the site are the green city guides - which offer tips on eco-friendly city accommodation, attractions, shops etc.

So far we've featured Cardiff and Bilbao (we're still very new!) but I was just wondering if any of you have travelled to any cities across the globe that stood out as being particulalry green?

green cities...

I haven't traveled out of state much but the city that stands out at least in Cali is San Francisco, it has a big environment-loving population and they've adopted several green regulations. I also heard New Orleans is being rebuilded by global green ever since the Katrina disaster, but I haven't been there myself so I wouldn't be able to say much about that.

I checked out your site.  I really like it.  Are you goin to feature a different green city each week or month?  Charlottesville, VA is a very green city.  My best friend lives down there and you would be amazed at how they have embraces the very essence of being green.  From the Blue Ridge moutains to the organic markets, to the restaurants and basically the overall attitude.  I always feel healthier when I visit.  Check it out.

city guide updates
by jamble on July 13, 2007 - 5:11am
The aim is to add a new green city guide at least once a month - and our writers have been to each city featured so they get first hand knowledge of the city. The next city guides will focus on Christchurch in New Zealand and Chicago. We're also introducing a comments section so readers can add tips on green accommodation, attractions etc www.jamblemag.co.uk

SD Building Receives Greenest Award
by Del_Sur on July 13, 2007 - 11:52am
As some of you may know I am very proud to live in a newly developed master planned community, Del Sur, which focuses on green efforts.  Last week one of the buildings in our community, the Ranch House information center, received a Platinum LEED (Leadership in Environmental Energy and Design) by the U.S. Green Council.  It is the first building in San Diego, the first private-enterprise in California and only the 28th in the world to receive this award.  I hope it continues to be a showcase and resource to all San Diegans to help encourage leaning and committing to environmental living.

great job

That sounds like a job I would love to do.  Travel around the globe checking out green cities.  How do you get something like that?  Only kidding.  Sounds like a resource I will use when trying to plan a trip.  Keep up the good work.

Hi,

I just wanted to add a quick update about the jamble Green City Guides. We've given the site a new look and have added Green City Guides for Edinburgh, London, New York and Brisbane recently - plus we're always open to suggestions for future guides.
