Hey!
by rachelallen1 on March 24, 2008 - 9:57am

here’s what’s helped me lose weight: I do long walks, I`m on a diet created by a dietitian, I use the stairs instead of the elevator, but the most important is to count the calories that you eat and the calories that you burn. I always track my calories with a calorie counter. I use the one from http://www.projectweightloss.com/  cause it’s free and they also have interesting diet tips. If you can’t work out all by yourself ask a trainer for some help. Good luck!

You need cardio for weight loss
by dcbooknurse on March 26, 2008 - 8:57am
You need to do something that gives you a sustained rise in heart rate for about 20-30 minutes. Walking or bike riding is perfect for this. If you like sports, something like basketball or soccer where you are in constant motion is great.

Pump it up a notch ,
by arnold on September 16, 2008 - 8:24am

Pump it up a notch , walking will show an improvement . You can lift weights but DO NOT start lifting to much weight so early take it bit by bit ... exercise your calves also . You can eat healthy too , purchase a weight lose video or go to Curves For Women . Some of it depends on where your trying to lose the access body fat . Last but not least , if you have not surfed the web about this give that a shot ! ohw and also keep doing what your doing . But whatever you do , dont take that fat-free food junk or those weight lose pills on the commercials. If that doesnt work try Body For Life . Theres a book about body for life at *books * a *million* .

Yes, cardio
by getexercised on March 30, 2008 - 3:20pm

Push ups are great for building strength but cardio is best for weight loss. Walking, running, biking, etc for 30 minutes three times a week to start, then slowly increasing the time. It's better to go slower and work out longer than go go go and burn out after 20 minutes.

I also recommend yoga as cross training for any exercise or sport program.

Best,

Dina

Things to try
by Qitree on March 31, 2008 - 12:22pm

1) Find a method of controlling your calorie intake.  Then make it a life long habit.

2) Aerobic execerise you can sustain and live with.   Long brisk walks are a good way to start.  Start slow as mentioned above and increase time and distance.  Swimming is really good.

3) Muscle mass has an influence on speed of metabolism. Add some other exercises for your whole body.  Something good, if you want to spend a little money, is a Body Blade  http://www.bodyblade.com/  .  It gives a good overall workout and is very portable.

4) Have a variety of workouts.  Pilates, yoga, running, walking, bodyblade, weigths,  cycling, swimming .... find what you like.

5) It helps if you have a workout buddy.  You can motivate each other.

6) Be committed.  Do what you must everyday to make  your goal happen.  If you want it to work there will be some discomfort.

 7) Exercise more than once a day if possible.  For example 20 - 30 minutes in the morning and again in the evening.

8) Set goals and modify them if needed.

Hope this helps.

Exercise is overrated
by Evolotus on March 31, 2008 - 9:04pm

Yes, I know this is all about healthy living and blah blah blah, but I think exercise is overrated.

Don't get me wrong, exercise is good for you, but if your goal is weight loss I'd pay far more attention to what you're eating and drinking, and skip the bazillion pushups.

Improve your diet and you will lose weight without getting off the couch, and you won't be counting calories, carbs, points, fat grams or whatever the fad is these days.

As the sprout lady at the farmer's market told me, when I complained about having a cold, "I could tell you what to do, but you won't do it."

Exercise for all the right reasons
by VIDA Wellness C... on April 10, 2008 - 6:23pm

Exercise for a healthy body and clear mind...looking at what you eat, as what Evolotus suggested as well, is much more important if you want to lose weight and keep it off permanently.

What you eat, how you eat,why you eat..those are all important questions to ask yourself. Why do you want to or "need" to lose weight? And why in a hurry? Do you like what you see when you look in the mirror?

Some people can exercise until they pass out and not lose a calorie if they are doing it for all the wrong reasons.

At least pick exercises you enjoy, and alternate every so often. Walking uphill is great...pilates, yoga, biking, and just walking a few miles a day. Keep a food journal..know and be conscious of everthing you eat...that's most important.

be well!

Simple changes...
by GreenbeanGirl on June 17, 2008 - 1:48pm

There are many easy changes you can make in your daily routine that lead to weight loss.

-Drink LOTS of water, especially when you first wake up in the morning. This keeps your body processing and flushes out toxins.

-Drink plain green tea, it helps deter hunger

-Don't eat within one hour of going to sleep. It's tempting to eat late at night but your body needs time to process food while you are still awake or it just sits there.

-Count calories! Like others said before, it is so important to keep track of what you put in your body. Try calorieking.com.

Well you could try to keep a nutritional diet as well and then replace fat mass with muscle mass. Energic exercising is the optimum solution here but first you have to know that excess in diet nor in excercising is not recommended.

Most adults need at least
by Kamil on August 3, 2009 - 5:47am

Most adults need at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity at least five days per week. Examples include walking briskly, mowing the lawn, dancing, swimming for recreation or bicycling. Stretching and weight training can also strengthen your body and improve your fitness level.

The key is to find the right exercise for you. If it is fun, you are more likely to stay motivated. You may want to walk with a friend, join a class or plan a group bike ride. If you've been inactive for awhile, use a sensible approach and start out slowly.

to loss weight
by Lucy on November 13, 2009 - 5:21am

Dieting, walking and doing lots of exercise are the good way to lose weight. But this is very tedious process. Dieting may make you nutrients deficient. In dieting you are restricting your mind and body too for food but your mind is in need of food. Exercises makes shape of your body or keep it fit but not reduce obesity.

To lose obesity (overweight), lap band surgery is one of the best solutions as I think so far.  It restricts food with the agreement of both mind and body and thus it has no such issue like deficiency or other. For this surgery, if you go at best lap band surgeon than there would be less or no complication and side-effects.
