Touche!
Posted by Vicki_R on June 11, 2007 - 1:31pm.

In “O” magazine, there was an article that reported on the latest fitness sport promising firm buttocks; fencing.  It seems that fencing is the way to a firm tush.  One student taking a course said she had lost an inch (yes, an inch, she measured) by the end of the second week.  Touche!!!

I can see why-all those lunges you do.  My dad actually has taken up fencing and he says it's a great workout and hes 66!

I've always wanted to try fencing but it seems that no one offers that nearby. I've actually been trying to look for a sport than can help me replace the gym. I do enjoy the gym very much but I feel that I want to add something else to my exercising.

hiking?
by Vicki_R on June 12, 2007 - 3:57pm
In the past I have boycotted my grm claiming I would find other means of staying fit.  Well, guess what?  I'm back and glad to  be.  I really just love the environment of a gym.  It really motivates me to see fit people.  You say you live in CA, what about hiking?  That's a grea way to stay fit and it defintiely works those glutes.

That's actually a great idea, I do hike from time to time though. I wish I could do it more often, but the nearest hiking or camp area is an hour ago or more. I do drive up the mountain at least every couple of months to camp out and hike the next morning.

Thanks for the advice Vicki.

I just found our about a great hiking place right near my home in New Jersey and I think I am going to give it a try.  Thanks for reminding me about how great a good hike is for the body as well as the soul.  I am a bit on the fence about fencing.

Old boyfriend fenced and....

.... I can attest to the fact that fencing is very good for your rear! And my niece just told me that she took a fencing course in college and it truly is excellent for the glutes.

Not sure my knees could handle it though..... if my doctor won't let me do lunges or squats thinking she might not let me fence. But I would support my husband taking up the sport ;-)

Nothing wrong with a man getting a great butt.  Better to look out!

I took up fencing in college, and would love to do a little fencing now. However, there is no place around me that offers it.  I found that walk has firmed up my butt. Hey, some of us guys want a nice fanny too! Trust me some of those guy at the gym are just concerned about good their butt looks. Only problem I have is my butt dose drag after a hard work out. Or as my sister-in-law asked "Where did your butt go? Oh never mind I found it! I just move in with mine." I must say and I am a little proud I am now the skinniest family member. LOL!

Wow, an inch?!?! That is crazy! Fencing seems like a very brutal activity on the butt. Hey if it works it works! I would like to try fencing,  but I have not seen any places in this area, I would probably have to drive to get into classes. I will keep fencing in mind if I ever move again, to a more rural area.
