Multi-vitamin

First let me say how I am glad to be back posting after a while.  I agree with you guys when you say that too many vitamins could be bad for you because vitamin K could be potentially dangerous from what I've read in magazines and heard in studies.  The best way to go is by taking a predetermined multivitamin after consulting a doctor of course.

my nutrition tech. teacher says they can actually be dangerous if you take them everyday. They are okay once in awhile but for vitamins like a and e and other minerals that dont come out of your body when you go pee ( like the vitamins c and b do) it isnt okay to take them everyday. They buildup and some vitamins if they buildup too much - like vitamin k... can actually poison your blood. Dont take multivitamins unless you havent been getting the right foods for awhile. Only take them once in awhile and you will be ok

multivitamins are a good thing!
by Trixie17 on April 14, 2008 - 2:01pm
I work for a naturpathic doctor who has over 25 years experience in clinical nutrition and he absolutely recommends that people take a high quality multivitamin, EVERY day.  The reality is that not all vitamins are created equal and many cheaper brands contain fillers, shellacs, and stearates that actually inhibit the absorption of nutrients by your body and can make your body work harder than it needs to.  As long as you are choosing a high quality multi, that utilizes easily synthesized and bioavailable raw materials then it is completely safe (and recommended) to take a multivitamin every day.  Regardless of how "healthy" your diet is, the unfortunate reality is that even if you're buying local and organic food much of the soil in the U.S. (and around the world) has been so de-vitalized that you simply can't get all your vitamins/minerals from food alone.

Introduce with 'rvita' , know alternative therapies
by layla111 on April 10, 2008 - 4:04am

When going the alternative medicine route one is often left to research and experiment to find the right products and resources. Here is a new site that is beginning to gather all the resources in one place. You can research conditions for various therapeutic modes, including Ayurvedic medicine, and get information about the effectiveness of therapies and remedies. The site is also a launching point for researching integrated alternative medicine therapies on the web. Go to http://www.rvita.com  .
