Is your Home Toxic?

When you think of a clean home, what comes to mind first? You might think of clean air, furnishings, appliances and generally a tidy home. There are a plethora of toxins in our homes and our environment that are absorbed through our eyes, skin and digestive tract. According to the EPA, indoor air pollution is one of the nation's health issues. There have been studies supplying information that homes have had 200 to 500 times higher levels of pollutants inside homes than outdoors. We would like to share with you some healthy alternatives that keep a home less toxic and more environmentally friendly.

 

Tips for a Healthy Home

  • We have compiled a few tips for creating a healthier, less toxic home. Our environments are chemically filled, from the air fresheners to the laundry detergent. The soap that cleans the germs away to the plastics in our fridge. As toxic as it may be we have the ability to change our environment to a more pure one.
  • Use only natural food dyes.
  • Try to avoid products that contain harmful chemicals. Decorate with cotton fabric and try to use only genuine hardwood furniture. Avoid plywood, because it contains formaldehyde.
    Monitor for mold.
