just wanted to share my experience using "greener" cat litter. have used scooping litter for years, but recently decided i wanted to use something different. tried pine litter, almost looks like large sawdust. at first i was really irritated with how much more of it makes it's way out of the litter box and all over my house. after a few days though, i realized that i was scooping a lot less of it out of the litter box and therefore putting less "stuff" in the garbage. i guess the old clay scoop litter is so much heavier and bulkier when saturated and the new pine litter is just absorbing the liquids. i'm still not happy to have so much of it getting tracked all over the house, but i'm happy that my cats aren't breathing all of the clay dust and i'm tossing a lot less into the garbage.

There are some great recommendations of some "earth friendlier" options in this forum here
Hope that helps!
