Newly Lactose Intolerant
Posted by yournewbestfriend on July 7, 2008 - 8:04pm.

I went vegan for three weeks and had some frozen yogurt the other night and am still feeling the effects. Officially, my body hates dairy. I always thought it did but now I know for sure.

I have been drinking Rice Milk with my cereal (yum!) but can't find a good dessert to satisfy my chocolate ice cream cravings.

Any suggestions?

 Thanks!

Coconut Bliss!!

Ah. Mah. Gawd. It's the best nondairy ice cream I've ever had, and I've had them all, I think. It is as good as ice cream if not better. I promise: you will not miss the moo.

I pray you live in their distribution area. Two options if you like chocolate - plain dark chocolate or chocolate hazelnut fudge.

Thank God!

I checked for a store near me and they sell it at my local Whole Foods. I am going to pick some up on my way home from work, no doubt about it.

Thanks so much! I'm sure it will be better for me, and my close friends and family (no ice cream can have some adverse effects).

Tofutti cuties are the best! Evn though I can eat dairy, these treats are just delicious. I was just looking and Tofutti makes other products now too.

I feel your pain, I just became lactose intolerant a year ago. I love frozen Cool Whip, it comes in plain an chocolate. Another good option are chocolate covered frozen bananas. There is also soy ice cream that is really good, I'm sure it is at your local health food store.

Maggie Muds!
by ElizaT on July 22, 2008 - 11:01am
Bay Area vegan scream lovers know... Maggie Muds is the bomb. I am not lactose intolerant, just intolerant of crappy ice creams like baskin robbins and even ben and jerry's, which as of late is starting to taste like crayons melted down with corn syrup and last year's halloween candy. I would eat Maggie Mud's lemon poppyseed every day of the week if I could.
