Recycling Trophies
Posted by nerak on August 13, 2007 - 7:22am.
I have close to 100 trophies my children received for sports. I hate to throw them out but have not been able to find a place to recycle them. Does anyone know of anyplace?

Suggestion-I think

I believe you could check with your local youth sports association.  Like the T-Ball League, Little League, AYSO, etc.  I met someone once (he was a sponsor of a Little League team) that was refurbishing old trophies for organizations like this.  (His garage was FULL of old trophies!!!)

Maybe check with your Chamber of Commerce?  Or the Special Olympics Committee in your region?

It would be great to know that your children's trophies could be put to good use AND give pleasure to another child once again.

Good Luck!

Trophy Recycling
by kikboxr777 on January 6, 2009 - 10:02pm

Hello everyone,

I own an awards company out of the Chicagoland area and would be interested in recycling any and all awards, trophies, medals, plaques and awards that you might have. We have just started this new business due to the increased need and untapped opportunity. We have been repeatedly asked by many individuals what they can do with their trophies, medals, plaques and awards. Before we had no ability to handle this influx of items but an ephihany happened not to long ago to myself in which I thought there would be many deserving people out there who could not afford to provide these types of awards for special people. Furthermore, I would like to see less garbage being dumped in our depleted garbage heaps around the area. While this might only be a drop in the bucket, at least it is a step in the right direction.

If you have items that are collecting dust, spiders, or just taking up space, we would be interested in any and all items that are in good condition even a little banged up. We have the ability to fix and repair these items and provide them either to charities or new and bright shiny faces.

Thanks in advance,

Michael Przybylski

Trophy Recycling Program in Madison, Wisconsin
by GreenAwards on May 19, 2009 - 10:36pm

Total Awards & Promotions officially announces it's Trophy Recycling Program to benefit area charities in need.

We hear almost every day of folks that have old trophies collecting dust and they don’t want to just throw them away; they’d rather make a useful contribution to others.  For over 20 years we have accepted these treasured awards and recycled them for parts or re-engraved and donated them to non-profits. Total Awards & Promotions encourages the community to donate their old trophies, medals, plaques & awards to support local non-profit organizations that are in great need in today's economy.

What: Donate your gently used Trophies, Awards, and Medals to be Recycled, Reused and Regifted by local area charities.  For items that are not reusable, they will recycle the parts. Where: Total Awards & Promotions 7475 Mineral Point Rd. Madison, Wi 53717 AwardsMall.com Near Pedros in the High Point Centre Mall When: Drop off anytime between Monday - Friday 8:30 am to 5:30 pm You may also ship your trophies to the address above, at your expense. Call 608-833-1716 first to arrange your donation. ~~~Pay it Forward~~~

Attention Coaches and Athletic Directors
by GreenAwards on June 26, 2009 - 10:15am

Today we had a van full of trophies, plaques and medallions dropped off from Coach McQuire of Fenwick High School in Oak Park, Ill.  He is the Swim Coach at Fenwick who's department is moving rooms and found hundreds of awards.  After some research, he found other departments with storage rooms of trophies, and he volunteered to gather it up and drive it up to Wisconsin so that the awards could go to those in need.

THANKS COACH LUKE MCQUIRE==For Paying it Forward!!

And he heard about it right here on Lime.com (!!)

He told us that there were still hundreds of awards left behind as the school wanted to keep all the first place trophies.  I'd like to suggest to all coaches and athletic departments that they make a memorial wall out of parts of the awards, to free up valuable square footage, while still remembering and honoring past achievements.
