Tonight I am committed to cleaning out my closets. Clothes that can go to friends/family in a clothing swap, hand me downs to my daughters and nieces and professional clothes for Dress for Success...
Yesterday, I organized books for the school used book sale... it feels so good to unload the stuff. Now, if only we can learn to stop filling up our lives with so much of it.
I like the idea of recycling our slightly used items like books, clothes, knick-knacks, etc. Instead of thowing them out I plan on giving as much as possible to Good Will or AmVets. My sister is always anxious to be on the receiving end of clothes I'm never going to wear again.
Hope this spring cleaning fever hangs on for a couple more weeks as that is when my vacation starts. Maybe I can start doing a little bit in the next couple weeks. There's always getting organized...

Check out LIME's article on spring cleaning. So,good tips. Isn't it the best feeling when you organize. I love doing it, when I get inspired to do so. I still have to reorganize and transfer my stuff to summer. I know, why do we collect so much stuff?
Not sure what he is so uptight about. He only wears 6 different shirts and 5 pairs of pants. What's with wanting to hold on to clothes that he hasn't worn in 10 years?
Any suggestions on how to get my husband to get on board the "Ditch It" wagon, please let me know.
I was looking in my closet last weekend and seeing all the things that I've held on to for YEARS! whew! and I had to ask myself, "why?" Of course it was the many happy memories that certain items of clothing brought to mind... weddings, important events, etc. But now I don't have room and am ready to part with the tangible proof of that time era. I think it's a good thing to get rid of the emotional moth balls when you get rid of things in your life. Plus now some of these items of clothing could be considered... vintage! Who knew?! Not a bad thing all the way around! My husband and I have a deal... we both part with things we haven't worn for 5 years. That way it isn't just one person clearing out the clothing cobwebs in the closet. Also, it gets both of us to take responsibility for our own clothing and what each of us feels comfortable parting with. Such as, I would NEVER take away that holy, but righteous, pair of jeans shorts that he loves so much! =)
I've found that by releasing the clutter from my past, living a life that is more "minimal" and less "things" oriented, has made a huge difference in the emotional, intellectual, and spiritual clarity I feel. It's also helping me to achieve more inner balance. I just wish I had come to this understanding years ago!

This entire year, I have dedicated myself to getting rid of 12 clothing items a month. It could be small things like sock, or big things like suits. I have a tendency to cling to things I know I'll never wear again (especially since I'm over 30 now and don't get sloppy drunk at the clubs anymore).
