Balance in Our Lives
Posted by sagartland on August 8, 2008 - 8:22am.

What are some suggestions for bringing our lives into balance? I am looking to find a balance of things such as work/leisure, time for self/others, healthy activities/indulgence, etc. Is it just about splitting up time between these or is it more?

Rules help
by Evolotus on August 16, 2008 - 9:21pm

I've found it's helpful to set rules and boundaries about things, partly because I'm rather organized and structured by nature.

Socially, my husband and I find it's easy to get overextended, so an example of a "rule" is I don't ever accept last-minute invitations, not even from family. Well, almost never, like less often than once a year. I don't accept invitations that require expenditures like buying a ticket or paying a cover charge - this doesn't include eating out, since we have to eat anyway. Most of what I find truly entertaining doesn't cost anything at all, and it's very easy to say "sorry, we have plans," and leave it at that.

Depending on your work habits, maybe another appropriate rule would be "no work on Sundays" or after 7 p.m. This includes answering your cell phone when it's the office calling or checking email.

The major rule of indulgences is "no dessert until you finish your dinner," of course!

Balance in our lives

I am in the same boat! It always seems like there is a "pile" of something waiting on me to "get around to".  With three children there is always the last minute something; homework project due, class outing, sports event, etc. and with a full time job, when do you find time to do the things that keep you going???  I am up for any advice, and by the way Evolotus, I like the nothing after 7pm but I can't seem to get it to work out so far!!!!

Juggling Act
by holbunny on September 11, 2008 - 12:59pm
I often feel as if I'm a circus juggler trying to keep all my little "balls" from crashing to the floor.  I have become a little more selfish of late in that I try to spend a little time each doing something I want to do or something for me.  I've always been bad about taking care of myself because with a husband, 2 kids,  a dog, fish, a house, and a business it always seems like there is something else that needs to be tended to.  So, ok, some days I do have to count showering and dressing as my "me" activity.  But then I might spend an extra few minutes on my hair or a little make-up.  I also try to multi-task in a sense by showering my kids with me and having them help me fold clothes or load the dish washer.

Hello,

Have you ever used an Aura Camera such as the Aura Video Station at www.aura.net?.
It is a wonderful device.I recommend you using an Aura Camera, which is specifically designed for displaying aura and printing aura photos via a computer interface.
