We all could stand to be a bit more caring to each other, animals, and the environment. If we all just showed that we truly cared for life we might all be a little happier and more satisfied with our lives.
I've finally come to realize that living the moments in life is so very rewarding. Being mindful of whatever you might be doing or experiencing. Don't waste those moments that make up life.
Love, it is the greatest thing anyone could ever give, receive, and accomplish in this world and life. If we show love for everything and everyone the possibilities are endless. We love our earth, family, friends, and sometimes even strangers on the street. If we could all just learn to love, live in the moment as if it were to be your last, because it might be. You don’t want to die today not having experienced love there is too much hate in this world to have it all end and crumble into a million pieces because we didn’t love.
I have taken years to let go of the past and today I stand before my children and I look in their eyes, I pray to stand before them as a living example of forgivness, and a woman who truley lives and loves.
I would teach my children the art of patience. I myself have a hard time practicing it, but I work at it everyday. I want my boys to understand that not all things come at once and immediate gratification isn't always the best. It is probably one of the hardest lessons to learn, but worth it.
Most people are too busy living thier lives that they forget to live it. I'd teach anyone that it's important to notice everything beautiful around them, and love it for what it is. Our lives are only what they mean to us. I guess that's my little existential peice of advice ;)
You are very right! It is hard to just notice the little things in your life and find happiness. We are always searching for the next vacation, the next dinner out, the next birthday party etc. I sometimes look at my kids when they are crying or having a tantrum and smile. Just because they are here with me, they are my children and I love them with all their faubles. Did I say sometimes.....
I would make it known that it is best to be conscious and considerate of all that exists beyond and within the mind.
I think that biggest hurdle for mankind is mankind's mindset. We don't behave as a global COMMUNITY. The typical person only cares about his or her self and, maybe, friends and family.
I care about that guy over in...Moscow taking a much deserve break from taxing work. I care about that ant on a scouting mission out west. I care about that exotic plant on that exotic planet in that exotic galaxy. It's not that I'm Buddhist or anything of the sort. In fact, I'm Agnostic. I'm not even spiritual. I just realize that we're all in this together. We just need to be more open.
Simply...LoVE to my daughter...Her middle name is LoVE...People often tell us that she is the happiest kid ever...she's only 14 months...we are truly blessed to share our love with our daughter...
So simple to say, but sometimes so hard to remember in our rushed lives. Anything could happen to any of us at any time. Be thankful for today and live it to the fullest!
someone mentioned mindfulness, and I would only add deeper breathing to that ... it's our best defense/offense against stress and being driven solely by external stimuli ...
breathe deep, be still and listen to the eternal voice that lives within you ... from there life becomes much more deliberate and purposeful, minute by precious minute ...
I would teach that all things in this world are interconnected. The good or bad you do ripples out and affects everything. A wasteful lifestyle, an angry temperment, all these things matter because they hurt everyone, including oneself. Only put things out into the world that you want to resonate and ripple onward.
I try and believe that people get what they deserve. I believe in karma too. What we put out comes back to us, either here in this lifetime or in another place. I want to leave this world with a clear concious and good karma. I do think we take it with us.
I would teach them to be kind to the people they meet. Not just the important people, but every person they come across; from the Wal-Mart greeter to the lady who cut in front of them. I think this world is lacking in the kindness department, and if we were all just a little bit kinder and more considerate, the world would be a much better place. Idealistic? Probably. :-)
The expression be nice to the people on the way up, because you may meet them on the way down is very true. I agree with you that there is a general lack of respect and kindness towards people, especially in the tri-state area. I smile and a hello would suffice...
I would teach myself Patience. Its the hardest virtue for me to grasp. I purposefully practice the feelings of gratitude on a daily basis....but truly cultivating patience is hard for me!
I had a hard time choosing just one thing, because there is so much of importance to live with integrity and peace. I think I might say tolerance; tolerance for difference, for the other. It promotes peace and harmony and satisfactoryy living in one's family, community and the world at large.
When you are at one with the universe you feel love. You understand how you can change the world for the better. You do not fear, you do not hate, and you have hope. You see that war is a war against yourself. You see that it is your responsibility to protect children, to protect the environment, to take care of your health, and to help your community. You want to laugh. You want to dance. You want to enjoy others company, whether living or passed. You see that life is eternal, yet you are engaged in it completely, in each moment.
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."
~St. Paul
"And now these three remain: Faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
The one thing that has been the difference that made the difference in my life is meditaiton/mindfulness. I used to spend all my time plagued by the past and worried about the future. Now I live primarily in the present moment through developing the habit of meditation/mindfulness.
Also, I used to be a victim to my thoughts...whereas meditation/mindfulness has taught me how to be an observer of my thoughts. So I don't have to get caught up in the drama of my thoughts! What a powerful place to BE.
This is the greatest gift anyone could receive, the ability to live in the present moment and bask in the beauty of who they are.
That's why my goal is to help 100,000 people develop the habit of meditation/mindfulness. I hope everyone will join this goal!
Horses know nothing of money, status, beauty or accomplishment... Horses see only our hearts, and they
accept or reject us based on what they find within.... In short, horses do naturally what humans can pass a lifetime without ever mastering.
If I could teach people one thing (and I am devoting my life to "teaching" people this one thing) it would be meditation.
Meditation is about living in the moment and being aware of the truth of who you are. Living from this awareness is the answer to health, harmonious relationships, inner peace, love and joy!
I truly believe that if each of us lives from this place of Presence we would all experience love peace and joy.

...Was that on topic?
That's beautiful and she can never say she can't remember it. When you really love something, you can overlook a lot and see the inner beauty.
as a recovering ego-MANIAC,
i'd teach the value of humility
I see so much apathy in out society. I would teach empathy and feeling for someone while not feeling sorry for them. Empathy, not pity.
And how to despense advice without judgement.
Ok. thats two things.

When you've got love, everything else follows.
