Musical Compilation list help...
Posted by John Solet (Coach Soup) on July 5, 2007 - 10:04am.

I'm putting together a musical compilation for a buddy of mine who is going through things & needs a boost...I mix music & need some ideas of songs to add to the compilation for a buddy...

The "theme" basically is a musical journey of happiness, love, feel good thoughts, inspiration, hope, dreams, etc...

Any help with "song"  ideas that inspire you...would be greatly appreciated...If you would like,,,I could also send you a copy of my musical mix...of hope, inspiration, love...

List your favorite 5 or 10 favorite inspriational songs...

Always works for me

I'm a Parrot Head from way back and whenever I am in a funk I listen to my old Buffett albums (scratches and all).  Cowboy in the Jungle - We've gotta roll with the punches, Learn to play all of our hunches, Makin' the best of whatever comes your way.  Forget that blind ambition, And learn to trust your intuition, Plowin' straight ahead come what may.

My other favorite is Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes - ... Nothing remains quite the same, With all of our running and all of our cunning, if we couldn't laugh we would all go insane.

Many people associate Jimmy Buffett with Margaritaville; but there is much more to his music than a shaker of salt.

I'd say that along with whatever tunes you come up with in your 'mix' - a little Buffett would be a nice compliment/diversion.

I'm sure whatever you put together, your buddy will appreciate the time and effort you took to try to help 'level his feelings'.  You are a good friend!!!

few songs

I'm more into rock music but I also have my soft side.

For the most part I really like soft jazz or acoustics aside from rock music.

But I'm gonna have to go with;

Louis Armstrong  "What a wonderful world"

Ray Charles  "Somewhere over the rainbow"

Kings of Convenience "The Build Up"

Tori Amos "I don't like mondays"

There's a lot but these are all the ones I can think of. I would include Dust in the wind by Kansas but I'm not sure how that song could cheer anyone up, it's a great song though, but just not the type you want to hear when you're down at times.

I hope everything works out!

Yea I agree anything by Louis Armstrong, he's so full of joy! I especially love "What a wonderful world".

You should also try Madeleine Peyroux, her jazz is very blue and soft. She's magneficient.

I agree with you Chris.... "What a Wonderful World" is a great song.  I never tire of hearing it.  I sometimes turn it on if I am feeling sad or lonely and it cheers me up.  I think this is great for the compilation list.

"Here Comes the Sun" by The Beatles - It is the perfect song to promote happiness, joy, and hope.

Adrianne

I found a singer named Adrianne a while back.  I really like her song (and album) called "10,000 Stones".  It's got great lyrics that I found really meaningful.  I ran into her and some other good artists when I started listening to the online music site Pandora.com.  Let me know if you get a chance to try out Adrianne's music.    :)

  Ilove their song Move Along

*When all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know ya do.
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along*
