Father Knows Best
Posted by dancingqueen on June 12, 2007 - 4:28pm.

We can’t forget Dad!  This Sunday is Father’s Day and what kind of site would we be if we didn’t give dad the attention he deserves.  You may have not always wanted to hear what he had to say, but his words undoubtedly shaped who you are. And so did the unspoken advice that he gave by example when you really needed him.  What reminders or two cents will you be remembering this father’s Day?

wise advice.

I always felt closer to my mum, but my dad would in fact give me the best advice when it came down to dealing with peer pressure in school. He hardly said much, but I do know it was always wise info.

pep talks
by Vicki_R on June 13, 2007 - 12:16pm
I have memory from when I was 4 years old.  I was getting ready for a swimming race at our local beach club and I remember my dad rubbing my legs to get them warmed up for the race.  He was giving me a pep talk and telling me I could do anything.  I did actually win the race that day and I remember getting my metal and him putting in around me neck.  It was a great day and one I will cherish forever.  I wish things were that easy now!

a little inspiration.

I really do think that a little inspiration is the key, to my experience the men in my life are always really good at this. From my grandfather or father to my uncles.

lessons learned
by Harley on June 14, 2007 - 12:20pm
My dad and I have had our ups and downs in the past, yet I could never imagine my life without him.  In the end, we both try and come through for each other.  My father always tried to teach me that as a woman, I could do anything I wanted as good or better than a man.  I know he wanted to empower me with the knowledge that I could always count on myself.  Sometimes the method he used wasn't the best, but the lesson learned was.

He was there for me, always!
by Statuesqueone on June 16, 2007 - 6:26pm
No matter what, my Dad was always there for me. Whether it was when I needed help with my homework, or when I needed him to stick up for me when the school bully was picking on me (I was very pickable), or when I needed him to work with my horse that just threw me for the umpteenth time, or just to give me money when I was putting myself through college. He was there for me and still is.

He really was/is a great Dad and I wish him a very Happy Father's Day even if we do live 2500 miles apart.

good advice
by dancingqueen on June 16, 2007 - 7:28pm
I remember my dad telling me in college that I should enjoy this time, because it was the only time left I would have without real worries.  I wish i had really heard him, because he was right.  I try and tell my young kids to enjoy life and try not to grow up so fast.  It was good advice.

Called Dad but....
by Ecobabe on June 17, 2007 - 9:25pm
...he wasn't doing so well today. His knee is really bothering him and I worry that maybe something is terribly wrong. Guess it probably isn't life threatening so I shouldn't worry too much. And as we get older more and more parts are going to hurt.... which is why I am trying to be as healthy and active as possible while I am still reasonably young.

I do miss my Dad and wished he lived closer. I'll have to go see him soon just to show him how much I miss him...... Dads are the best! Happy Fathers Day Dad, I love  you.

staying young
by Vicki_R on June 18, 2007 - 10:50am
You never know about life.  My father was so healthy his enitre life and exercised like crazy.  Then life and genetics took over and he started getting problems with his knees, which lead him to stop exercising.  He had to get knee replacements and since then, he has not been the same phyically. We can try and stay as young as we can and do as much as we can, but some things are unforeseeable.
