British Food Packaging to Adopt Eco-Labels

British environment secretary David Miliband has pledged to develop a uniform food eco-labeling system, saying that displaying information about farming- and shipping-related greenhouse emissions would reward good practice among producers.

I know that labeling is very hard to interpret.  I would appreciate knowing how the food has been processed and what the effects would be to the planet.  It is definitely an interesting idea.  I don't understand why european countries are more aggressive about global warming.  With all the wealth and power in this country, we need to do a better job.One article I recently read in Cooking Light Magazine, stated that "people understanding the benefits of their foods is the first step in heatlthful cooking."
