I am all for supporting smaller businesses. I would also prefer not to drive over a hour to find a Wild Oats or four hours to find a Whole Foods. I love both stores but, Whole Foods, by far, wins my vote. They are so similar in both products and pricing, they seem like the same store anyway. Whole foods has a wider selection and their own brand of organics which is exceptional and very reasonably priced. The 365 organic, decaf, whole bean coffee can't be beat!
I just can't see anything changing much with the merger aside from a wider selection of products and more new stores to choose from. I live in a small, rural town in Indiana. Few people will go the distance for either store, especially with gas prices being what they are. If this merger means expansion, more people will have access to great products and healthier choices.
