The next Batman movie, The Dark Knight, recently made headlines when it was widely reported that a scene involving Christian Bale jumping into the Hong Kong harbor was cut because the water is so polluted. However, the movie's director, Christopher Nolan, denied the reports at a press conference, saying cutting the scene had "nothing to do with pollution. It was simply a script decision. Once you see the finished film, you will understand why. As far as the pollution question goes, I honestly have no problem dumping movie stars in it."

There are a lot of celebrities I wouldn't mind seeing dumped in waste—hey, I'd probably give Paris Hilton a push— but tall, dark and handsome Christian Bale isn't one of them. Besides, I'm sure Batman would be smart enough to navigate the waters in his Batboat or Bat-Sub.

The 2008 Independent Spirit Awards are going to be a "zero waste event." The award show, which will take place February 23 in Santa Monica, will undergo a number of changes to make it environmentally friendly—from the way votes are cast to the food that will be served at the ceremony. "Our goal in implementing these changes is to show that it's possible to move towards a greener way of doing things without completely changing your life," said show producer Diana Zahn-Storey. They've also asked all award show regulars who are serial daters (think: Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore) to "recycle" a previous celebrity boyfriend as their date instead of bringing a new flavor of the month. Just kidding.
