Juicing with Penelope

Ladies, for those of you who secretly (or overtly) want to look like Penelope Cruz, you might want to invest in a juicer. I’ve dusted off mine and started using it again. Why? Because at the new Woody Allen film Vicky Christina Barcelona’s movie junket, Penelope — who is stunning even without a stitch of makeup — was drinking carrot juice. (Which is more than I could say for Javier Bardem. It was 10am and he was drinking a caffeinated soda. But the guy is positively dreamy, so I forgive him.)

Carrots have a great shelf life, so rather than throwing away the ones that have been sitting around in your fridge, you can recycle them into your juicer. Hey, if it helps you to look like Penelope, whose skin is flawless, I'm all for it!

Scarlett Gives Back

Co-star Scarlett Johansson also sets a great example — she is involved with many charities she is passionate about. “It's hard to say I have one main cause; that's like picking a child. Certainly, I continue to work with OXFAM (which invests in eco-friendly coffee processing) as an ambassador for them. I'm doing a trip with The Red Campaign coming up in September. And I work with USA Harvest. I'm always trying to raise money for them. They're a wonderful organization. Obviously, not that it's a charity, but the Obama campaign I'm a surrogate of.”

Hang Time

Celebrities are looking to hang up their clothes the eco-friendly way. To that end, Hills Clothing Line is an Australian brand of clothes lines that just launched in the US and has already garnered major buzz in Hollywood with celebrity fans including Rachel Bilson, Jeremy Piven, Matthew Rhys and Olivia Newton-John. With Hills, apartment dwellers and homeowners alike can line dry — which is better for the environment, your clothes and your wallet.

Said Olivia (who seems “hopelessly devoted” to eco-friendly matters): “Line drying is something so typically Australian to me that I associate them with my childhood. There is nothing that I love more than to take time to clear my head and hang the washing out on the line on a beautiful day. It makes your clothes and linens smell so good and, it is very eco-friendly. Our planet is our responsibility to take care of and line drying is one way in which we can all do our part to help the environment."

Added Entourage’s Jeremy Piven: “Line drying is easy and to be honest it helps the environment and makes your jeans look better — so get busy!” Fans of Entourage can also catch co-star Adrian Grenier on Planet Green, Discovery’s network’s new eco friendly channel.
