Don't Worry, Be Happy
Posted by Su Avasthi on March 20, 2007 - 7:57pm.

Repeat after me: The glass is half-full. And half-full is plenty, so take a sip if you're thirsty.

This attitude, it seems, may be the key to that elusive state of mind we call happiness.

There's an interesting article at MSNBC about how positive thinking and acts of kindness are essential components to feeling better. Traits such as appreciation and generosity seem to lead to happiness more often than not.

Apart from boosting one's spirit, scientists are increasingly convinced that a positive mindset can have significant health benefits. An upbeat attitude appears to counteract the negative health effects associated with stress. And happier people tend to resist infections and viruses.

The article is full of strategies to cultivate happiness, which seems to boil down to adopting a more positive and generous emotional style.

According to their happiness expert, (now there's a job title I'd like) feeling good can be as simple as training yourself to see that the glass is actually half-full.

Here are some tips on how to cultivate happiness -- and you can find many more on Lime's radio show, Be Happy Dammit!:

  • A new study showed that people who kept "gratitude journals" -- presumably recording and recognizing their blessings -- felt happier. The act caused them to focus on things that they appreciate, rather than regret or lack.
  • Scientists are also studying the role played by altruism and kindness. My guess is that they'll conclude that doing good deeds feels better than going on a shopping spree.
  • Feeling connected to others and engaged with one's community seems to be a vital part of remaining positive.
  • Money and attaining personal goals don't seem to be as likely to lead to happiness as devoting time and energy to causes in community.

Personally, it seems pretty impossible to change all those negative thought patterns just like that. Err... scratch that. What I meant to say was: A positive outlook sounds just dandy.

Happiness rehashed

That seems to be the motto lately.  Isn't that what the "secret" is all about.  The new postive attitude, will bring fufillment and riches.  It seems that this has been done before. Oprah did the gratitude journal years ago.

Having a postive attitude can never hurt and I do think it helps to alleviate stress which is never good.

The power of gratitude journals
by yourjournal on March 21, 2007 - 8:23pm

I totally believe in the power of gratitude journals.  I had never heard about them until a girlfriend sent me a copy of the movie 'The Secret' a couple of months ago.  I was so motivated by what they were teaching that I thought I had nothing to lose.  Because my area of expertise is document design I created my own gratitude journal based on the teachings from the movie,

Well since then I have changed my very negative mindset to a prosperity mindset you should see the amazing changes.  I am not kidding.  I don't know if it is law of attraction or just focusing on the positive, but whatever it is it works.  The following exciting things have happend so far:

  1. My gratitude journal has turned into my new business. www.yourjournal.com.au  So many people kept asking me to make them one so I thought why not turn it into a business.
  2. I keep getting unexpected cheques in the mail (I got one from the tax department, how good is that)
  3. I registered my son for daycare, I was told it would take 12 mths to get in, he got accepted in 7 days
  4. I have come up with 3 more business ideas I am launching in the next couple of months
  5. I won a share in 4 race horses after entering a competition
  6. I have lost weight and got healthy and I feel great

So I strongly advise anyone who has or has'nt seen the movie to start a gratitude journal.  If you don't know what to do then check out my gratitude journals.  They come with full instructions inside on what to write and how to change your mindset from a poverty mindset to a prosperity mindset.

Now I have even become an affiliate of 'The Secret'.  That was a law of attraction experience also.  I said to my husband "why arn't the teachers helping others to make money from the secret?"  He said "because it sells itself and they don't need to".  Within 4 weeks I recieved an unexpected email from the teachers of the  Secret telling me about an affiliate program they were starting in March this year.  I signed up straight away becuase I want more people to experience the abundance I am experiencing.

Life is too short to waste on negative thoughts, I should know I have wasted the last 2 years of my life on a downer.  Make a promise to yourself to at least start writing a gratitude journal.  You will be amazed at how good you feel once you start.  The rest will just happen on it's own 'law of attraction' is a wonderful thing.

The Secret
by Shay_Re on March 21, 2007 - 8:24pm

I have recently learned about "The Secret" and as skeptical and corney as it all seemed at first, I decided to start utilizing it. Within the last month I have noticed that I handle stress and can overcome the obstacles of everyday life much easier.  I even started telling myself that money was going to start coming to me (like the tape I was introduced to the secret with said) and within one week I received a small refund that was unexpected and my  credit card company upped my limit.  I think its the little things that add up to make a difference. So tell yourself that , LIfe is good, we can all make a difference with this powerful concept, so go ahead and share The Secret!

sunny disposition

I am glad that you both are seeing results and have a more sunny disposition.  My best friend and I were discussing the whole secret concept.  As long as you are happier in your life, that is what matters. Do you think you are seeing results because you are looking for them more?

I still am a bit skeptical about the whole concept, but am trying to be more grateful for what I have and I have a lot.

In a nutshell

All the answers here are great...but I believe that using something ANYBODY can use, is even better because:

Not everybody gets right away the will to change

Not everybody will read, go to a seminar, buy tapes etc...

not everybody believe you can change

BUT we all, usually, want to be happy.

So, what is the key? Well, it is a few actually...So, go there, read it 9It only will take a small while) and I can tell you that this WORKS for ALL..just apply it...and it is FREE...Does it work? 98% of ALL the people I shared it with say yes!:

How did I find out all what you read..well...trials all right...Read this about me (only if you wish):

Au revoir,

Remember just do it...BE positive and you SHALL be positive...Sure, we cannot smile all the time and some days are a bummer  BUT true success is...to minimize to a max what life can throw us negatively and do be the best we can be in compassion and respect to others and Earth...And, yes, we can do it...Didn't I?

I watched it and it basically reminded me of a lot of things I had learned from the celestine prophecy and a couple other books and I did/do have a gratitude journal, it really does help, can't think of who made the book, it wasn't oprah, but the woman was prob. on oprah, hmmm, anyways, it's good to try and stay positive and be grateful for what you have, manifest your destiny!!
